August 2 - Baby Bling Bluey Buddy

"The horror!  The horror!"

~ Kurtz - Apocalypse Now (1979)

The tone is gone now. Or maybe it's everywhere. I don't know anymore.

Everything a shade of that color...

It's not blue. It's not ... anything. I shut my eyes tight but it's ... inside already.

I can't explain it.  I should tell .. I should... No. No, it doesn't matter now.

... Blueyyyyy...

In one of Cecilia's classes at Bling Bling Jam she taught a technique/concept for making one-balloon four-leg animals.   .. and for just a few more balloons, you can descend into the warm embrace of Bluey madness.

August 1 - Chub Chub Bling Bluey

"It was only a colour out of space - a frightful messenger from unformed realms of infinity beyond all Nature as we know it; from realms whose mere existence stuns the brain and numbs us with the black extra-cosmic gulfs it throws open before our frenzied eyes."

~ H.P. Lovecraft - The Colour Out of Space

Did I black out?

No.  I remember going to sleep, despite the whispers growing louder.

They're gone now, but in their place is a ... a tone I can't describe.  It glows somehow - a sound you don't just hear, you .. see.  Or at least ... can't unsee.

It was JUST a blue dog.

It's out there.  I feel it behind my eyelids.

I don't open them.

A "Chub Chub" is a balloon concept from Joe Mock of Balloon Brothers fame, and is a decor-style basic body shape with a bit of a short column stack look, one would imagine is perfect for a tables or tying into most decor really.

Bluey wasn't a design taught at Bling Bling Jam (thankfully?) - I'm just playing with the concept and being a silly goose.  (Honk!)  I tried adapting the faces from both Darren and Sam(my?)s Blueys  - this balloon design has a lot of "play" in how much detail you choose put into accessories, I suppose in this instance the face is an accessory.

July 31 - Bluey Bling Buddy

"Beware of what you let in; some things don't leave."

~ L.M. Browning

I keep hearing whispers.  Some kind of conspiracy is brewing, "did you see that one episode?" like a secret society.

Still.  Just a blue dog. ... right?

I didn't sign up for this.  I don't want to sign up for this.  But like a thread hanging off a sweater that you know you shouldn't pull, here we are ... again.

Darren Mortiboy taught a class with a few delivery pieces - a Stitch and this Bluey.   One thing I appreciate about the Darren's designs is they (tend to) focus on a single balloon size, making upsizing and downsizing obvious.

He also shared a base that he uses frequently for his deliveries that works great in every color but brown probably.

Having multiple instructors teach the same design at a balloon convention is "fine".  I don't really mind it, but it certainly makes you wonder if there was either a plan, and if so - was it to shill for the Bluey Megacorp?

July 30 - Bling Bling Bluey

"Mom!  Dad!   Bingo!  Bluey!"

~ Bluey Theme Tune

Sometimes I make balloon art and get to investigate fun things, like fairy shrimp or axolotl.

Bluey.  Is a blue dog.

How much deeper do I really need to investigate?  I see some cutesy "booboo knee owie" kind of growing up stuff.

Certainly 45 seconds should be plenty of time to get an opinion.

Grouchy Smurf?  He's just upset when he heard this post was about "Bluey" and it wasn't him.  That was his nickname back in 'Nam.

Bling Bling Bluey was one taught by Sam DS (@twistinsam) at Bling Bling Jam this year.   I simplified the body somewhat when trying to recover from some unfortunate pops that I don't *want* to blame on old stock ... but I can practically smell the dark blue balloon still when looking at the class picture.

I also was still playing around with Shana's Smurf wands, seemed appropriate here.
