September 11 - Fox Bubble Buddy

"The fox changes his fur but not his habits."

~ Proverb

What does the fox say? ..

... did we ever get the answer?

I suppose while I'm asking, was it live or was it Memorex?

This fox design is another showcasing the Bubble Buddy design from the Balloon Brothers collection.

I spent some extra care trying to get the head attachment angled better this time, but still any head-on pictures are simple "all face".

June 25 - Loopy Fox

One day in the year of the fox
Came a time remembered well
When the strong young man of the rising sun
Heard the tolling of the great black bell

One day in the year of the fox
When the bell began to ring
Meant the time had come for one to go
To the temple of the king

~ Rainbow The Temple of the King

I love me some Ronnie James Dio.  I was fortunate enough to see him live a number of times in the later years.  I was crushed when he passed - but heard that old band mates of his are going to tour with his hologram (link) .... and I believe the top comment sums it up accurately for me. "That weird feeling of being both amazed and horrified at the same time."

The fox one of the few remaining designs from Tony Twist's Loop the Loop instructions.  He provides the main structure and I build in the appendages/tail - but this is the first time I'm happy with the tail.  Typically tails are not an easy thing to photograph as they are hidden behind a main structure and force either a sideways pose or some adjustment, this tail fit nicely wedged into the body shape sideways.

April 19 - Sweet Cheeks Fox

Big Mama: Tod, that Copper is going to come back a hunting dog, a real killer.
Young Tod: Oh no, not my friend Copper. He won't ever change.
Big Mama: I hope you're right.
Young Tod: And we'll keep on being friends forever. Right, Big Mama?
Big Mama: Darling, forever is a long, long time, and time has a way of changing things.

~ The Fox and the Hound (1981)

This fox is another of the balloon tutorials from Eric Weinstein's Sweet Cheeks #3 (link).

Eric is throwing in the kitchen sink with these tutorials, in addition to the collection of designs - each of these videos seem to have a specific lesson attached. With this he demonstrates one way in which you might build a seated animal using his technique. This could be used with almost all of the previous creatures.

What I really like about this design in particular is that instead of teaching a typical fox, he shows how to build Foxy from Five Nights at Freddy's, I simplified the colors in order to make a typical fox. I ended up building two versions of Foxy, in the second I played around with some of the earlier SC techniques for a bulkier head but opted to not give it any eyebrows.

June 23 - Fox

This Fox has a longing for grapes:
He jumps, but the bunch still escapes.
So he goes away sour;
And, 'tis said, to this hour
Declares that he's no taste for grapes.
~ W.J. Linton

This fox is the second design shared in the recent Aaron "Dizzy Doc" Hay webinar.

The facial base structure is effectively the same as the polar bear, so you can tell how this could be used for most 4-legged creatures with only slight modifications.

This basic form is perfect for linework as it takes only a couple minutes to create and no special balloons are needed.

The red was built during the webinar and the yellow right afterwards to try and lock in the design.  I tried jazzing up the orange a little bit with some belly fur and you can see how easily the simple form can be easily embellished with very little effort.  (There are also whites behind the eyes, but you can't see them in this photo angle.)

"This is the big one! You hear that, Elizabeth?
I'm coming to join ya, honey!"

Pig goes "Oink!", Fox goes ... ... ... ?
