April 15 - Cockatiel

The Moon was gentle, and when it crossed paths with the Sun, the world grew restless - tides trembled, creatures stirred, and balance slipped.  Although the Moon tried to stay away, the Sun seemed to arrive and leave at a different time every day.

A small bird offered to help.  

It would fly ahead of the Sun, singing as he went, so the Moon would always know where not to be.

His crest rose like fire at dawn and settled onto his cheeks with quiet purpose - and so the first cockatiel was born.

Having just recently made a cockatoo, I was a bit at a loss of what to say about this bird, to be honest.  A cockatiel is a sub-species of cockatoo, native to Australia only -- there wasn't a myth or origin story that I could find though, and it just seemed like there should be one.

This design is from the Isopresso member channel.  Each design so far has had a special bit of magic - some small technique that catches me by surprise or a different approach to how I had previously done things.  I especially love the way they make the eyes on this one.
