May 2 - Cicada

Mammoths and Ants
Look at the fragile mushrooms.
Look at the Black Widow.
Pause with me a moment,
and hear the cicadas humming.

Here is where I'm home,
among the Mammoth Red woods.

When I was lost, the Ants absorbed me,
calling me to the Smallness of Earth.

There I heard the Song of Silence.
Come with me through the miniscule.
Listen.
The cicadas are humming.

This poem from a 2nd-year student was shared by @joseph.fasano.  Joseph has a number of poetry prompts for teachers and their students - and apparently sometimes, the result is simply magic.

Full credit to the young poet, and to Fasano and the teachers curating such powerful voices.

This balloon design is taught by Isopresso in the members section. It's a cicada nymph - the picture is not "right" because this is what they remain for years, hidden underground and waiting for the big day they will all emerge en masse and transform.
