November 2 - Ziggy

It's been a rough year in our household for pets. On Halloween day we were called to a neighbors house, our cat was motionless in the bushes near the road. We believe he was hit by a car, but it could have been an animal or just his time to go.

Ziggy was a lover, he knew our routines and where he was most likely to be pet - he would latch his claw into your shirt and pull your hand to him. He would lay were you were working, waiting for a lull and give an irresistible meow/purr. He wouldn't just bask in the sun, he would luxuriate on his back without a care in the world in the comfort of his domain.

Ziggy was also a hunter. Once we installed a cat door, he spent most of his evenings on the prowl, oftentimes bringing prizes from his hunt. Many a morning I would wonder what debris was on our sidewalk only to see it was the face bitten off a mole, or a gizzard from some unfortunate animal to cross his path. We've had an injured bunny sprinting throughout our house, I've walked past a hallway and seen a squirrel trying to burrow into a corner. Ziggy looking on proudly, once again with that irresistible meow/purr.

He was 12, which is a nice long life to a cat the kept mostly outdoors.  But I feel the loss - our house is a little more empty, a little bit colder without the warm muff of fur walking in front of the iPad looking for affection.
