November 8 - Vote

"And I am reminded of all those folks who had to count bubbles in a bar of soap, beaten trying to register voters in Mississippi. Risked everything so that they could pull that lever. So, if I hear anybody saying their vote does not matter, that it doesn't matter who we elect, read up on your history. It matters. We've got to get people to vote."

~ President Obama
Excerpt from speech - September 17, 2016 (link)

Today is election day in the United States and I would just like to take this moment to encourage everyone to vote.

I was at Starbucks yesterday commiserating with the lady at the window about how I liked to vote on election day, there's an excitement with a day-of vote that I think is lost in mail-in ballots. She turned to her co-workers and asked if they had early voted or were going tomorrow, and when one of them confessed that she wasn't going to vote at all, my heart broke a little bit. I understand that it might be difficult to choose given the wealth of misinformation out there, but the effort is worth it. From massvote.org:
"For the past three decades voters have been disproportionately of higher income, older or more partisan in their interests. Parallel to participation gaps are widening gaps in wealth, reduced opportunity for youth and frustration with the polarization in politics. How would our world be different if everyone participated?"

This is your opportunity to let the government know how you feel it should be run. Don't give your choice up to someone who doesn't have your best interests in mind.   The Millennial generation account for one third of the voting population, don't squander your chance and let your voices be heard!  Your opinion matters!

Did you vote for American Idol?

Did you vote for Dancing with the Stars?

I don't approve of political jokes, I've seen too many get elected.
